Melted, burned, crushed, or dissolved, our processes and equipment yield you the highest returns.
Each package that arrives at our facility is carefully opened in the presence of at least two employees under complete video surveillance.
The material is then weighed and photographed on a precision scale, and weights are compared to those written on the refining form enclosed with your material. Any discrepancies in weight are immediately reported to your sales representative so that you can be contacted before the lot is processed any further.
With weights confirmed, lots are then assigned a unique identification number and held in a secure location until ready to be melted or otherwise processed.

Upon your request, we can remove your precious stones quickly and safely using a top-notch chemical stone removal process called Aqua Regia.
Our technicians carefully monitor each reaction as your precious metal is dissolved, leaving clean stones ready to sort and return to you within 5 business days.
Best of all, we never charge for stone removal for lots over 5 ozt. And for a small fee, we can “etch” or “frost” your stones to separate the diamonds.

For precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, we start by melting your material in one of our induction furnaces while also adding the appropriate custom blended flux to remove impurities. Then we thoroughly mix the molten material to insure a uniform sample, lift out the crucible, and pour the liquid metal into a mold. After that, you're left with a solid bar of pure love, ready to test.
For low-grade materials like polishing dust, filters, carpet or vacuum bags, we start by burning, crushing and then sifting the material. The resulting “fines” or “prepared sweeps” are then thoroughly mixed and sampled for fire assay results reporting.

The number one question we hear… “Whats it worth?” To give you an answer, we typically use a sweet technique called fire assay.
Fire assay is still widely viewed as the most accurate means of determining gold and silver content, though its been altered very little over the centuries. Its origins can be traced as far back as the Bible.
Although it is fairly complex and time consuming, we think it's worth it to get the most accurate possible evaluation — up to 1 part in 10,000 on gold.

Once your material has been weighed, analyzed, and evaluated, a settlement is prepared using pricing taken from the 2nd London Fix on the day after your material is received at our facility.
For example if your material arrives at PMRS on Tuesday, you will be priced on the 2nd London Fix posted Wednesday. Your sales representative will then contact you to report the final weight, assay, and value of your material, and to confirm your payment instructions.
Should you desire to “lock in” your metal price at a price you desire prior to the posting of the 2nd London Fix on the following day, simply contact your sales representative when you feel the price is right for you, and the price will be locked by our trading desk. In the event you wish to place your material on consignment and have your precious metal collected in a pool account for payment in the future, contact your sales representative.
In most cases, settlements for Gold scrap are paid in full within 24-48 hours of our receipt of your material at our facility. Stone Removal settlements are generally paid within 3-5 business days. Silver Settlements are generally paid within 3-5 business days. Low Grade settlements are generally paid within 15-30 business days, depending on the type of material being processed.
In accordance with our Anti-Money Laundering Policy and the Provisions of the United States Patriot Act of 2001, PMRS requires that all customers complete our AML Compliance Form (PDF).
